This original design is based on the colors of a Navajo beaded belt. It is featured in my YouTube tutorial #33. The Dreamcatcher is a gift made by mothers and grandmothers to hang over the sleeping place of a precious child. In the Chipawa tradition, the Spider Grandmother is the protector of children and she weaves the web of the universe. Dreams pass through the woven center of the mandala and are caught, then they drift downward. Bad dreams get trapped in the beads and are burned up in the morning sunshine. Good dreams pass down the feathers to the child.
Stretched canvas 16x20. Acrylic. Finished with Kamar varnish and signed on the back. Wired for hanging.
